Here's What I'm Doing With My Life (For Now)

7:58:00 PM

So, Kelsey, what are you doing with your life?

I swear this is the only question that people have asked me for the last 6 months. My parents friends, my friends, my professors, random people I meet on the street. Everyone wants to know what my post-grad plans are. I totally get it because I’ve asked every single one of my fellow grads the same thing.

The thing is, it’s a bummer and a half when you don’t know what you’ll be doing. And most of us don’t know. (Knowing how big of a bummer it is doesn’t stop me from asking, either.)

I can promise you one thing-- it will work out. Maybe not before graduation, maybe not right after, maybe not for several months after, but it will work out. It’s worked out for me.

I am so completely over the top excited to announce that I will be moving to Dallas, Texas at the end of June! I’ve accepted a long term post-graduate internship with a super incredible, wonderful, all-around fabulous PR firm called Golin at their Dallas office. I’ll be on their team for 6 months (and will hopefully be staying on after that!!!)

For those of you that are still searching, remain hopeful. I applied for jobs consistently since January of this year (and even a little bit starting at Thanksgiving of last year). The trouble wasn’t in getting turned down-- it was that no one was even calling me back! Jobs are so competitive at this point that simply being qualified isn’t enough. [I’ll do a separate post if anyone’s interested to talk about the specific things I did to land this job]

When I got the email with my job offer I immediately burst into tears. It is such a stressful process and it’s hard to feel like there isn’t something wrong with you (and to wonder if you’ll be stuck mooching off your parents for the rest of the foreseeable future), so when I got that email it was like the weight of the world was off my shoulders.

I was doing my best to keep all of this under wraps until the contract was signed, but I am so happy to share it with all of you now! Time to purchase my golden ram’s head (nothing says Texas like a golden ram’s head, am I right?)
